Blog Post on Progress

Post on your blog what you have been working on, how it's going, what else you need to do to improve your project -- 300 words. Prepare to present your ideas in class as well.

My group had been focusing on the songs, both the composing and the acting part. We had been discussing about the emotions that the characters wanted to convey by singing the song in order to compose music that will help show the emotion. At the same time, we are composing most of the lyrics for our character's songs.

Since we are done with designing the lighting, props and customs, we are now trying to polish our acting and singing so that we can run through everything several times before the actual performance.

The things we are still looking forward to working on are the singing. Because our songs not only contain solos, but also duet parts, we do need to practice them repeatedly in order to perform it well on stage. We also have to make sure that we memorize the lyrics really well. Because of the lack of the experience of practicing on stage, we really need to be on stage, practicing with the lighting ques and the music ques. Timing is the key!

There are few more challenges on our path. Firstly, the making of the prop is still in progress, I will have to speed up that progress so that we can practice with it. Secondly, I had been struggling a bit on how I should stand on stage. After checking the video of the previous drafts of my group performing, I noticed a big problem on the way that I stand on stage. Because most of the time, my character is communicating to the other character on stage, I often turn and face them regardless of the position of the audience. In those videos, I could hardly see my face. Facial expression is a big part of the expression of emotion. I will pay more attention on the way that I stand on stage in the future rehearsals and make sure that the audience can see my expressions better.
