Personal Reflection to the Final Draft

Strength: The fact that our performance includes not only acting but also singing can make us stand out from other performances. It not only shows our ability to combine different types of performing skills but also our skill of developing something complicated and interesting based on the text. Meanwhile, the balance of acting and singing in our performance is really important too. It shows that we are making this performance a musical not because of the lack of our acting skills, but rather, challenging ourselves and take advantage of our talents in a reasonable way. Weakness: Our biggest strength is also our biggest weakness. It takes a lot more time to prepare a musical. We have to compose our lyrics and accompaniment from zero. It is a process that takes lots of thinking and editing. Also, in order to make the whole performance smooth, we have to have light music playing when we are talking as well. Otherwise, the singing parts will seem very awkward. For me, I have ...

Play Review-The Importance of Being Earnest

On November 1st, I watched the play The Importance of Being Earnest in Cheshire Academy's Black Box Theater performed by Cheshire Academy students. Before watching the play, I have never read about the story of The Importance of Belong Earnest. This is a quite educational play. The main characters of the story are  Algernon Moncrieff   ( played by Aaron) and   John (Jack/Ernest) Worthing, J.P. (played my Tas). They both demonstrated the personalities of their character really well. I knew Aaron is a great actor. However, Tas really surprised me by his mature acting skills. I always thought of him being a shy person. I now know how wrong I am about that. He is really active on stage and he projects his voice well which made it easy to understand his lines and the emotions that he tried to convey while saying those lines. This play is an about a story of two boys that make up an imaginary person that they talk about when they need excuses or reasons to explain or ...

Compare and Contrast NYDW and NW

Both the story of New York Day Woman and Night Woman described how mother sacrifices for their children. In the Night woman, the mother took the job of being a prostitute in order to make money to support her son after her husband had left them. The New York day woman has the job of being the “Nani” of the child of another woman. Both the Day Woman and the Night Woman hid their job from there children. However, they might do it for different reasons. For Night Woman, she doesn’t want her son to know about his job because she is ashamed of her job. Being a prostitute is not a job that would bring you. Shame comes along with every penny that she makes. For New York Day Woman, the way that she treats her only daughter is described in the play as careless and even somehow rude. However, being a Nani means she has to treat that little child nicely. And she did so indeed. She bought that little boy a can of soda. This is very different from how she would treat her daughter. Based on those f...
