Reflection of the improve

I’m very glad that I chose Spring improve as my activity. This is a totally new experience for me and a lot of the members in our cast. When we first started to rehearse, I didn’t feel like rehearsing at all. The rehearsals seemed like games and I was just having fun during those games. However, as we get closer and closer to the day of the actual show, I noticed something has changed. I thought we just need to work hard to show the creativity of ourselves as individuals. But what’s really important is the interactions among us, the cast members. It’s not only about showing people who great I am, standing out from the rest of the group. It’s about how we work with each other to create interesting scene together. We have to give trust to each other and provide information that our teammates can catch and build on to it. Another thing that’s really important is to always say “Yes” to whatever your peer says. In improve, lots things don’t go as the way it usually is in our lives. And when...

Ideas about WC.

Overall, I have a 70 for my third draft, and I think I really need to work harder to bring that grade up. I have a 2.5 out of 2.5 for my title. So, I’m not planning on changing that part. However, I only have 2 out of 5 for my Introduction sets up the essay. I think I need to provide more background information about the story of the Windfields. I can talk more about the conflicts between Tom and Amanda. I should also mention more about Laura’s weakness in the family as well. I can do so by using the quotes in the scenes or describe how she acts when Tom and Amanda argues. She does nothing but being uselessly sad. The Analytical Thesis statement was even worse: 2 out of 10. I think I was talking about the thesis in general but didn’t summarize it in a complete sentence. That really hurts my grade. I think I need to not only talk about it but also talk about what’s really the most important part. Lately, I’ve been thinking about the role that Jim plays in the whole story. His absence d...

Strength and Weakness of Performances

After seeing the performances of my peers and reviewing the one by myself, I found lots things that can make the performance either attractive or boring to the audience. Based on the reflection and the suggestions from people, the use of singing is adored by most of them. Firstly, it is more stressful and challenging for people to prepare a singing for a poem. Therefore, people tend to expect to see the result of their preparation. The other thing that makes the audience excited is the use of body movements: to dance to jump to hug oneself. The use of effective facial expression can also make people have a deeper understanding of the poem and be concentrated as well. Most importantly, whatever people do, if their voices are not loud enough, people will be bord. In my opinion, the things that make a performance boring can be summarized as “the lack of expression”. When people’s voices are too small, no one would hear it. That’s not only boring but also confusing. Also, it is nec...
