Blog #4

When Romeo first came to the stage in the play, he was struggled and sad because the girl he loves doesn’t love him back. At first, when Benvolio asked Romeo why he is sad, Romeo didn’t want Benvolio to know about it. As Benvolio mentioned “in love” Romeo acted a little frustrated and asked Benvolio to leave. In the end of scene one, Romeo told Benvolio about his struggle. In that way, I noticed that Romeo is not really outgoing. He likes to hide his feelings inside and not talk to others easily. Benvolio got to know about his sadness just because Benvolio kept on asking him and was trying to help him feel better. In addition to that, I also find out that he doesn’t have a good relationship with his parents. They had to ask someone else to help them to know about their son. Romeo is definitely not the kind of children that depend on his parents a lot. Moreover, in the first scene, I thought Romeo was the kind of person that would be love very deep and it might be hard for him to forge...

In class work(Reflection)

The things that I saw was good about others' performance: 1. One of the group had clear distribution of parts. They have different characters and a narrator. That made the scenes easy to follow and understand. The whole production went soomthly with the narrator speaking and guiding the show. 2. One group only did the last scene of the play due to the small amount of time they had. That was very efficient and impressive to the audience. The things that need to be improved: 1. People are saying the lines fast because they want to cover more things in the limited period of time. However, the audiences weren't able to hear their lines clearly. So, people should keep in mind, when ever they say lines, no mater how fast they say it, the lines have to be clear and understood. 2. No laughing on stage. No matter was went wrong, I shouldn't laugh on stage. We have to think of ways to fix the problem and cover the mistake as much as possible.

Note for R&J (Act 1, scene 1)

I read through the Act One Scene One for Romeo and Juliet in this weekend, and I didn't really understand the text of the play. This play used all the original text from Shakespear and contains lots ancient English which doesn't make sense to me. Character Chart Character Status Relationships Personality Other details Romeo Montague The youngest son of Montague family Sensitive, brave, naive Juliet Capulet The daughter of Capulet family Naïve, full of passion towards love, brave Gregory Montague A servant in the Montague household. Reflect on the process of devising and performing

Reflect on the process of devising and performing. What did you personally contribute to the group? My teammates and I were planning on having a male main character and have all other characters relate to him. However, I pointed out that we don’t need to stick to the relation type of male to female. We can have two girls in a relationship. Therefore, we can more creative about the story. I also made a lot of suggestions about the scripts to my teammates and helped them to determine the most effective emotion expression for each scene. . Reflect also on your group as a whole. What went well so far? For our group, the whole process was very smooth because of our great cooperation. We thought about the story together so that we didn’t argue about what we should do. We also did a fantastic job of having a positive attitude throughout the whole process. We worked hard together even when Jack was not in class. When we know that Jack was not able to join us, we stayed calm an...
