1. I want to adapt the story of Children of The Sea. I'm not going to combine this story with any other stories in the book. It will be performed in a way that's similar to a musical.
2. It is interesting to me because Children of The Sea is the story that I like the most in the book. Also, the characters in this story are all very vivid. The stories they experience are all very strong and leave deep impressions to the readers. It will be entertaining to the audience because it will be more than speaking and acting. It will contain not only solo singing but also some duet between the two actors.
3. As mentioned, this adaptation will have two roles in them, the female narrator and the male narrator from Children of The Sea.
4. Firstly, the stage will be separated into two sides, one side representing the girl's house in Haiti, the other side representing the ship that the boy is on. The two characters will only stay in there own side. They each take turns acting out a monologue. The girl will do a monologue about what happened to Madam Roger. The boy will talk about what happened to Celiaane. They will each do some solo singing after their monologue. Eventually, the two characters sing together about how they miss each other and how much they are worried about each other. In the end, the boy throws his note book into the sea, and the black butterfly lands on the girl.
5. The main theme I want to express is tragic. Both Madam Roger's and Celianne's experience makes the boy/girl worry about their lover because that reminds them of what could've happened to their loved one. However, they are apart, they can't do more but worrying and write stories that will never be delivered.
