Reflection on in-class performance

Helen&Grace:

In this group performance, Grace played as Lili and Helen played as the female narrator in Children of The Sea. They performed a scene of the female narrator tries to run on the boat but she bumped into Lili and missed the boat. This performance especially showed the female narrator's desperation to freedom and to her true love. At the same time, the way that Grace(Lili) comforted her showed her loving and caring character. Their performance also made it clear that Lili was much more mature than the female narrator.

David&Yun

David played as Guy and Yun played the Night Woman in this story. For the book has not revealed the relationship between them yet, they assumed that the Night Woman is Lili and made a scene which Guy actually came back to her and her son. And he left not because he's dead, but because he had abandoned her and her son. When Night Women's son(played by Josh) comes out, the way that Guy talked suddenly changed. He told his son that he is the angle from heaven. However, Night woman won't allow that. The way that Yun played this character had showed us that Night Woman wouldn't forgive Guy even if he comes back because all the harshness that she went through had broken her heart already.

Josh&Aaron

Josh played as Guy and Aaron played as Lili in this story. They didn't have interaction. Instead, they stood and narrated their thoughts. The different perspectives that they showed throughout the performance showed how different Lili's and Guy's needs are. Love brought them together, but they have different wants in life. Lili can't support Guy to chase for dreams that are far away. And guy can't understand Lili's simple standard for happiness either.
